Somerby, SC – Filomena Perrino, known as Fannie, died in Somerby, Mount Pleasant, SC on April 18, 2022 at the age of 101. Born in Capodrise, Italy on December 23, 1920 (or possibly the 24th as her mother baked Christmas cookies, as she remembered) she married her late husband, John, on 11/11 1945 at 11 a.m. . They celebrated 55 years of loving marriage and four children before he passed.

Fannie arrived on Ellis Island in 1928. She then worked as a seamstress adding beadwork to Broadway costumes, then worked at Marstelle Bridals in the Bronx embellishing wedding dresses. Her fashion sense was impeccable, adhering to the Italian tradition of “fare bella figura”, always at her best. Fannie’s creativity also shone through in her love of storytelling, sharing stories about the mischievous Italian leprechaun, the mazzamuriello, who lived in his attic in Italy, the fable of one eye, two eyes and three eyes, and many more. other stories. She made her family smile and laugh. She was a fantastic cook and always made sure everyone was well fed. She volunteered at St. Denis Catholic Church, where she was an active part of the community and served as a hostess.

Fannie will be lovingly welcomed into the kingdom of God by her husband, John Perrino; daughters, Marie Gonzalez and Annette Aviles; as well as his brothers, Paul and Tony Cirillo. She is survived by her daughter, Joann, and her husband, Bart Gravino, of Huger, SC; his son, John, and his wife, Ellen Perrino, of Hedgesville, WV; his sister, Rose Golino, of Bronx, NY; his son-in-law Stan Aviles, of Huger, SC; his son-in-law Joe Gonzalez of Centerport, NY; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Christian Burial Mass will be offered on Wednesday April 27, 2022 at 12 noon at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
