Tribune articles, the letters miss their mark – Greeley Tribune
Some quick points from the editorials of the last few weeks:
On 10-9, you rented the new Roosevelt High School and its construction. Like in Greeley, I could never equate a better education with a new building. I thought it was always the quality of the teachers, not the quality of the build. Please stop using the worn out phrase “It’s for the kids!” The new buildings are for administration egos trying to get their names off these buildings!
As for the elation of Bev Green with PERA spending $ 212 million last year in County Weld alone on teachers’ retirement, keep in mind that this is just a county. in this state, in a year. With all the money we spend on education in this state and the school districts, they are not spending it wisely. If something PERA is to be funded, it costs us a fortune and is extremely poorly managed.
For Sherrie Peif on 10-8, this current school board is just a yes vote for whatever our superintendent wants, she is not âthe best shelfâ. As for parental choice, school vouchers are the only thing that will give us that voice.
A word to Mr Haeffli, if you really want to protect a large part of the students in D6 (i.e. masks), start by closing the high school campuses for lunch. Expand lunch programs, have businesses run on-site lunches or food trucks – something other than the chaos surrounded at lunchtime with those students leaving schools, running the streets, risking lives and starting fights!
Finally, kudos to Paul Jackson for saying that we don’t need educators to watch educators. It’s like nepotism at work. We know they are protecting theirs. In the next election, vote for independent and objective school board members, not other educators and / or social workers.
